Top comedy songs about falling in love
The 9 best funny songs about dating, unrequited love and falling for the wrong person

Love is a tricky business, and it's one of those human conditions that inspires many a comedy singer to put pen to paper, producing some beautiful compositions that are heartfelt, melancholic, bitter, angry, or a combination of all four. Oh, and funny, of course.

We've gone through them all and have chosen the best examples of comedy songs that encapsulate the joys and tribulations of trying to find that perfect peson in an imperfect world (and then getting that person to fall in love with little old imperfect you).

With examples from everyone from the Flight of the Conchords to Hugh Laurie, let's not waste any more time and get straight into our top 9 list of funny love songs.

Our first comedy song comes from Anyone for Tennis? and springs from the torment of knowing that even though you may not have met your future partner, somebody else probably has...

Of course, as Garfunkel and Oates point out, you can easily fall for the wrong person, where even though everything seems pretty much perfect there's that little nagging doubt in your mind that not everything is exactly as it should be...

It's always important to check just what the boundaries are at the start of a relationship. A comprehensive example of this comes from Brett and Jermaine from Flight of the Conchords:

Further to this, it's important for you to want the same thing from the relationship too, as demonstrated by Kate Micucci with Ted from Scrubs:

Then there's the effect that love can have you. You can be the most handsome and debonair person present, but that's no good if you can't actually speak to the person of your dreams. I think Cat from Red Dwarf can explain here:

Of course, there are many things that can attract you to a woman, but as Saad Haroon will tell you, modesty is a very strong motivator...

But one thing you need to avoid is the worst kind of love: the self-destructive unrequited kind... and the hope that this can engender. Well, here's Mike Polk's take on it:

Now, it's back to the Flight of the Conchords to prove that when falling in love it is a good idea to manage expectations, but it's not always a good idea to be too honest...

We'll leave this top 9 list with a master - Hugh Laurie - who has recognised that for some people, of course, the whole love thing is just a mystery...
